Ariyaporn Nunthiphatprueksa (Ph.D)

Lecturer

SUIC and Vatel Thailand
Class of 2011

Bangkok, Thailand Return

Please tell us about the benefits of studying at SUIC/Vatel:

During the time I studied at Vatel Thailand, I was prepped with a good balance between academic and practical experience for the hospitality industry. Not only the management tasks I had theoretically learnt, but all aspects of professional training and internships which were well delivered throughout the 4 years of study. A number of experts from the hospitality industry also provided hands on training with the students, in which text books alone were not sufficient.

What did you do after graduating?

Right after my graduation in 2011, I pursued my international master degree in the UK (MSc in International Business Management, Kingston University). Thanks to the international study environment that Vatel Thailand had provided me, I was able to enjoy studying abroad without much culture shock. Upon my return to Bangkok, I was working for a large machinery company (one of the biggest in Thailand, if not Asia) as a Purchasing Manager and International Affairs for a few years before getting back in to my academic career path. I started my Ph.D. together with my Lecturing position at Silpakorn University International College, one of the leading public universities in Thailand.

Why have you chosen Hospitality education as your career?

Not only because of the appealing size of the industry, but also due to the fact that the career path is very promising. There are lots of opportunities waiting for graduates and a good choice to select from, and of course, in different countries around the world too.

As a Vatelien, how can you contribute to the success of the School in Thailand?

Being a Lecturer gives me a great opportunity to pass on my knowledge to others gained from my academic studies and professional experience. This includes creating an effective method of sustainable change in Thai society but also passing proven knowledge and skill sets to subsequent generations.
